Dr. Laura Herrera brings 26 years of nursing experience to her practice, including 12 years in Critical Care and Psychiatry and nearly 14 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her extensive background spans a wide range of specialties, including Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, OB-GYN, Family and Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Clinical Research. As a clinical practitioner, Dr. Herrera specializes in treating Asthma, Allergy & Immunodeficiencies and serving as the lead Sub-Investigator at Western Sky Research.

Dr. Herrera’s passion for science and biology began at a young age. Her fascination with marine biology (especially sharks) sparked a lifelong love of learning that ultimately guided her to pursue advanced studies and a career in medicine. She was inspired by her deep desire to help others and her curiosity about the mysteries of the human body, particularly pathology.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Herrera is deeply involved in education and mentorship. She serves as a consultant and instructor at the Clinical Trial Academy at the Medical Center of the Americas and as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Herrera is an active member of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Texas Nurse Practitioners, El Paso Advanced Practice Nurses, the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and Sigma Theta Tau International.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Herrera is a passionate traveler, having explored much of North America, South America, Europe, and the Caribbean. Among her favorite destinations are Argentina and France, where she met her husband. She also enjoys reading, practicing yoga, and continually expanding her knowledge in science, medicine, and beyond.
