What we do
Allergy Testing & Interpretation
At Access Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology we understand how challenging allergies can be for both children and adults. Whether you’re a parent managing your child’s healthcare or an individual navigating your own allergy symptoms, knowing the basics of allergy testing and management is the first step toward relief. Here’s a quick guide to help you understand what to expect and how we can help.
What is Allergy Testing?
Allergy testing is a safe and effective way to identify specific allergens that trigger symptoms like sneezing, coughing, rashes, or more severe reactions. Testing helps pinpoint the causes, such as pollen, pet dander, mold, food, or insect stings, so that you can take steps to minimize exposure and manage symptoms effectively.
Types of Allergy Testing We Offer
Skin Prick Testing
- Tiny amounts of allergens are applied to the skin using a small prick.
- Our providers are trained to interpret the results of your skin tests.
- Ideal for diagnosing environmental and food allergies.
Immunocap Blood Testing
- Measures the presence of specific antibodies in your blood to detect allergies.
- Useful when skin testing isn’t an option, such as with certain medications or skin conditions.
Patch Testing
- Used to diagnose contact allergies, such as reactions to fragrances, metals, or skincare products.
- Allergens are applied to patches and worn for 48 hours to monitor for delayed reactions.
- The patch is then removed and results are read at 48hr and 72hrs.
